FM Radio Receiver Design and PCB Fabrication
Real-world project · AICTE-aligned · AI-graded · Audit-ready certificate
About this project
Design a superheterodyne FM receiver from scratch using TDA7000 (or RDA5807) IC. Hand-design the LC tuned circuit, simulate in LTspice, lay out a 2-layer PCB in KiCad, and fabricate via JLCPCB. Characterize sensitivity + selectivity vs commercial receivers.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs):
CLO1: Analyze a superheterodyne receiver architecture and trace signal path.
CLO2: Design LC tuned circuits for a given frequency band.
CLO3: Simulate RF circuits in LTspice and validate against analytical results.
CLO4: Lay out a 2-layer PCB with proper RF practices.
CLO5: Characterize a fabricated receiver using lab test equipment.
Industry/societal relevance: Foundation for RF/wireless engineering careers at Qualcomm, Samsung R&D, ISRO, DRDO.
